He was predeceased by: his parent L. B. Whaley; his wife Ruby Lee Avant Whaley; and his sister Lou Ann Keel. He is survived by: his parent Mary Mitchell Hardy Whaley; his children, Angela Whaley Livingston (Tony) and Gene Whaley, Jr.; his granddaughters, Candice Livingston Maddox (Steve) and Christa Livingston Heinzelman (Scott); and his sister Sue Cadenhead (Rhett).
