He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis T. Hataway and Nellie Mae Fuller Hataway; his wife Billie Joyce Hataway; his daughter Vicki Hataway Traylor; and his brother Jim Hataway.

He is survived by: his son Steve (Tammy Hataway); and his grandchildren, Jonathan Hataway, Leah Bradley and Chris Hataway. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
