He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Owens Jones; his parents, Bud Jones and Sydney Jones; his brothers, Gary and Stanley Jones; and his nephew Matt Jones.

He is survived by: his son Robert Carl Jones; his grandchildren, Emily Jones (Chase Haney) and Jaxon Brown; his great grandchild Sydney Haney; and his sister Vickie Jones Medders (Ken).
