She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Cater and Margaret Brock Cater; her husband William Van Cortlandt Brandt, Jr.; and her brother Charles "Jack" Cater, Jr.. She is survived by: her husband Lowndes M. Butler; and her children, John R. Brandt (Dora), William M. Brandt (Penny), Peter V. Brandt and Margaret "Peggy" Butler Ginn (Launnie). She is also survived by six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston, 1701 Henry Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
