He was predeceased by: his parents, Geraldine Wright and Phil Champion; his brothers, Randy Champion and Dennis Champion; and his brother-in-law Wayne Thrasher.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Champion; his daughters, Amy Lloyd (Ray) and Stacy Denham (Shane); his grandchildren, Morgan Horsley (Kyle), Tanner Lloyd (Peyton), Ashley Rivera (Michael), Brandt Denham (Tori) and Brady Denham (Isabel); and his great grandchildren, Everlee Horsley and James Lloyd. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
