He was predeceased by: his parents, Maurice Patrick Hicks and Myrtle Austin Hicks of Oxford, Alabama.; his children, Kenneth Mark Hicks and Candice Michelle Hicks Potts; and his brother James Maurice Hicks.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Tew Hicks; his son Jeffery Kemp Hicks (Missy); his stepsons, William Walter Wheeler III (Anna) and Gilmore Clifton Colyer III (Sonia); his granddaughter Sylvia Taylor Hicks; and his stepgranddaughters, Sara Michelle Wheeler and Katherine Elizabeth Colyer.
