He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hays; his son Gary Hays (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Joshua Hays (Crystal), Zachery Hays (Cara), Bethany Hays and Michelle (Brian) of Assis; his siblings, Betty Vice, Errol Hays, Carolyn Lee (Garvis) and Anita Campbell; and his cousin Judy Quinn (Luther). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
