He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shirley Miller Perry; his son James Autry Perry; his brother Joseph Thomas Perry; his mother Minnie Odessa Perry; his sister Mae Edwards; his son David Wayne Perry; his grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Perry and Stephen Perry; and his siblings, Sue Perry, Bonnie McKerley, Sue Stegall (Jake), Frances Watts, Richard Perry, Wendel Perry, Kenneth Perry (Dorothy), Joseph Cecil Perry and Gerald Perry. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
