With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Cleophus Thomas Senior (Anniston, Alabama), who passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice Cook Thomas; his son Michael Thomas; his siblings, Louise McIntosh, Jessie Dixon, Thomas Jefferson Bradford, Maxine Thomas Moore and Phyliss Thomas McNeil; and his stepmother Helen Thomas.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Cleopatra Thomas May and Cleophus Thomas, Jr. (Carla); his grandchildren, Allen Thomas May, Joel Thomas May, Cleophus Thomas III (Claudia), Phillips Thomas Hornbuckle (Chad) and Caleb Spratling Thomas; his sister-in-law Mary Jo Cook; his great grandchildren, Norah Elise May, Atticus Hornbuckle, Marcelo Thomas, Etta Grace Hornbuckle and Maya Thomas; his adoptive daughters, Shirley Colvin and Beverley Veal; his great grandchildren, Connie, Richard, Nate Stockham and Buddy Dean; and his caregiver Nanieta Redrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests any memorial gifts be made to the Mrs. Cleophus (Bernice Cook) Thomas Endowed Scholarship in Art and Art History at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
