He is survived by: his wife Dessie Garrett; his children, Cassandra Buie (Demetrius), Melonie Wilson, Belinda Mann (Jerome), Donald Garrett (Ann), Jeremiah Garrett, Jr., Maury Garrett (Felicia) and Jerry R. Calhoun; and his siblings, Mattie Jones (Taylor), Grant Whiteside (Minnie), J. E. Garrett, T. L. Whiteside (Sally), Clinton Whiteside, Kenny Whiteside (Lecia) and Richard Garrett. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
