It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virgil Lawerence Gill of Alexander City, Alabama, who passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Virgil Lawerence may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Clestine Denham Gill; and his parents, Luther Howard Gill and Gracie Ladora Gill. He is survived by: his wife Judy Hamlet Gill; and his sons, Randy Lynn Gill (Barbara) of Alexander City, AL, Steve Gill of Montgomery, AL, Michael Allen Gill (Karen) of Alpine, AL. and Barry W. Gill. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as his two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 26th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM at the Radney Funeral Home (1326 Dadeville Rd, Alexander City, AL 35010). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 26th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home (1326 Dadeville Rd, Alexander City, AL 35010).
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alexander City Church of Christ, 945 Tallapoosa St., Alexander City, AL. 35010, earmarked for the hurricane disaster relief.
