It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Byron Saunders Sr. (Alexander City, Alabama), who passed away on January 2, 2021, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He died from complications of the Covid virus at Russell Hospital in Alexander City.

The family will accept flowers or donations to the Children's Miracle Network at the Children's Hospital of Georgia at 1446 Harper Street, BT 1844, Augusta, GA 30912 or online at augustahealth.org/give/childrens. Donations should be made in honor of his grandson, Alexander Saunders.

“I am so very sorry to learn of Mr. Saunders passing. I am a former student, originally from Montpelier, VT. I was in his English class his first year of teaching there (my freshman year), as well as my senior year. He made us work hard, as he wanted each of us to search out our full potential. He was truly the best teacher most of us would ever have. He was kind and caring. He was a true gentleman. My sympathy to your family. Sharyn Wilkinson Comstock”
