He was predeceased by: his father Benjamin Wallace Garrett, Sr.; his granddaughter Haley Marie Garrett; and his stepfather Claude Clanton, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Annette Hay Clanton of Valley; his wife Rebecca Welcher Garrett of Alexander City; his children, Jerry Michael Welcher (Nora) of Alexander City, Christy Smith (Brandon) of Alexander City, Richard Donald Garrett, Jr. (Kayla) of Alexander City, Alicia Tielking (Ronald) of Auburn and Christopher Garrett (Tina) of Auburn; and his brother Benjamin Garrett (Sherlene) of Dadeville. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
