She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ernest Messer and Irene Hendrix Messer; her husband James Robert Hooks; her son Charles W. Hooks; and her sisters, Alice Talley, Ruby Messer and Nelda Daviston.
She is survived by: her children, Jason Robert Hooks (Mary Catherine), Mary Katharine Strickland (Jeffrey) and Debra Robinson; and her sister Ernestine Burkhalter. She is also survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
