He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Gabbard and Beatrice Spencer Gabbard; his son Anthony Gabbard; his granddaughter Daylana Gabbard; and his siblings, Henry Gabbard, Geneva Smith, James Gabbard and Jesse Gabbard.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Jean Gabbard; his children, Darrell Gabbard, Laura Bednarski (Rodney Jones), David Gabbard Jr. (Desiree Matthews), Jess Gabbard (Vicki Newell), Jerry Gabbard (Ana) and Phillip Gabbard (Kayla); and his brother Hershel Gabbard. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
