He was predeceased by: his parents, Chalmus Roden and Edna Roden (Benefield); and his wife Virginia Herlihy Roden. He is survived by: his children, Debby Richardson (Brian), Darlene Shapiro (Bruce) and John Roden, Jr.; his grandchildren, Zachary and Avery Richardson; his sisters, Jeanette Creel, Reba Cox and Carol Creel; his close friend Bobbie Edmonds; his brothers-in-law, Vaudus Creel, John Cox and Ronald Creel; and his nephew Ferrell Roden. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
