He was predeceased by: his parents, William Oscar "Ott" Ponder and Josie Brock Ponder; and his siblings, Bud Ponder, Doyle Ponder, Dempsey Ponder, Doris Jones, Dean McNutt, Rachel Steele and Nell Ponder.
He is survived by: his brothers, William McClellan and Jeff Wiggins; his wife Doris Ponder; his children, Byron Ponder, Kim Wright and Deeanna Aldridge (Donnie); his grandchildren, Chase Aldridge (Aerial), Kayla Hall (Cody), Levi Aldridge (Mallary), Skylier Aldridge (Ali) and Jacob Ponder; his great grandchildren, Blakelyn Hall, Daxton Aldridge and Baisley Hall; and his brother Wayne Ponder (Sherry).
