She was predeceased by: her parents, Pate V. Smith and Annie Mae Lee Smith; her husband John Robert Benefield; and her siblings, Carolyn Glass, Glenda Manasco, Billy Frank Smith and Larry Wayne Smith.

She is survived by: her son Jeff Benefield; her sister Janice Smith Oliver; and her close friend Mary Edson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, AL 36111.
