He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn Darbonne Fontenot; his parents, Dallas Fontenot and Iris Sebastian Pitre; his brothers, Winston, Gene, Wilray and Ryan Fontenot Sr.; and his son Barth Burdick.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas Burdick (Brenda), Lony Burdick (Rhonda), Cassandra Britton (Joseph), Lisa Arnaud (Gerald) and Adrien Tucker (Violette); and his grandchildren, Jamie Bordelon, Jennifer Traini, Colt Burdick, Eric Burdick, Kris Rhoades, Joseph Britton, John Britton, Christopher Britton, Alisha Arnaud and Jeremy Arnaud. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
