He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Jean Kurtz. He is survived by: his wife Gretchen Ganz; his son Lloyd S. Kurtz III; his daughter-in-law Lillian of Palo Alto; his daughter Kathryn Kurtz of Juneau; his sister Barbara Bunning (Jim) of Sturgeon Bay; his nephews, Steven Bunning of Plymouth, David Bunning of Lake Forest and Michael Bunning of Vernon Hills; and also, Jay of Palo Alto and Lowell of Palo Alto. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to non-profit organizations such as the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota, the Alaska Aviation Museum, Alaska Public Media, and Alaska Legal Services Corporation.
