He was predeceased by: his father Jesse Owens; and his pet Ferlin Husky. He is survived by: his mother Zelma Weaver; his sister Darlene Romero; and his close friend Gwen Lupfer.

However, nothing would have pleased him more than a donation to an animal charity in his honor.
