He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shane and Martha Shane (Fratis); and his siblings, Serafima Shane, Katherine Dunton, Erena Haynes, John Shane, Walter Shane and David Shane.

He is survived by: his children, Krystal Furio and Nikander Shane Jr.; and his siblings, William Shane Jr., Frank Shane, Mike Shane, Benjamin Shane, Mabel Kochutin, Diane Krukoff, Dorothy Andrews and Anna Lestenkof. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and great-nieces.
