He was predeceased by: his parents, Colonel Charles Spurgeon and Mildred Mills Basinger; and his sister Ann Wilkins of Falls Church, Virginia.. He is survived by: his wife Donna Null; his children, Charles of Birmingham, Peter of Moab and Hope Hubbard (Toby) of Anchorage; and his brother John of Enumclaw, Washington..

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's name to the Alaska Christian College in Soldotna, Alaska .

Our senior year at VTS, Jim and I had a contest to see who would receive the most Christmas cards, as that would determine which of us was the most popular and loved.
