Malcolm ’Mac Miller’ James McCormick Obituary
On September 7, 2018, Malcolm James McCormick, known in the Hip Hop community by his rap name ’Mac Miller’ tragically passed away due to an apparent drug overdose at the young age of 26. He was a very talented self-taught musician. He taught himself the piano, drums, bass and guitar. At the age of 14, he started rapping, and by 15 he decided to focus on a career in Hip Hop.
He released his first mixtape ’“But My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy” under the name EZ Mac at age 15. Following 2 more solo albums, in 2010, he signed a deal with Rostrum Records and released his first studio album ’Blue Slide Park’ in 2011. In 2014, after leaving Rostrum Records, Mac Miller announced that his label Remember Music had signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
Mac Miller struggled with drug abuse in the passed, and he spoke about this in many of his songs. He was set to begin his tour on Oct.27 after releasing his newest album titled ’Swimming’ on August 3, 2018.
Mac Miller will surely be remembered by the Hip Hop community as his youthful and honest music will continue being played for years to come. Visitors are invited to light a candle and leave a message of condolence for Mac Miller.
