Aretha Louise Franklin Obituary
Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul, passed away at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. At age 76, she lost her battle with advanced pancreatic cancer.
Beginning as a teenage gospel singer, Aretha Franklin, fed soul into our lives with powerful vocals and strong messages. Her 18 grammy awards and hits such as: Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Chain of Fools and Think, propelled her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as its first female inductee. Her songs shared messages around the world. Her song “Respect” was adopted by African-American women and feminists alike as an anthem symbolizing social change. She was an influential role model who led the path for many female artists over the years from the likes of Whitney Houston and Tina Turner to Beyoncé.
Her songs are still heard on the radio and remain relevant, as they will be for many years to come. Visitors are invited to light a candle and leave a message of condolence for The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
