He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Herbst and Claudia Herbst; his wife Lyla; his children, Patricia (Ken) and Tim (Vicki); and his brother Robert (Charlotte) of Medicine Hat. He was also cherished by five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
