He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kaip and Katherine Kaip; and his parents-in-law, Bill Tatarliov Sr. and Julie Tatarliov (Corbin). He is survived by: his wife Katherine Tatarliov; his children, Chris (Shelley), Russell (Sandra), Virginia and Janet (Mark); his grandchildren, Ryan, Steven, Eric, Michael, Amanda, Adam, Simon Jr., Chelsey, Stephanie, Michelle, Jeremiah and Sarah; and his brothers-in-law, Bill Tatarliov (Bev) and Ken Tatarliov. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
