He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Kater and Gertrude Kater; his siblings, Elfrida, Paul, Richard and Gary; his siblings-in-law, Arnold Roemer, Bernie Neuberger, Diane Kater and Eileen Kater; and his daughter-in-law Lana McPeek.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Sheila Tooke of Regina, SK, Cheryl O'Byrne of Calgary, AB, Greg Kater (Cindy), Carrie Wheeler (Brad) and Kelly Kater (Stephanie); his siblings, Marlene Roemer, Ella Neuberger, Susan Kodes (Ron) and Walter Kater; and his sister-in-law Elda Kater. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
