He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce; his parents, Peter Ortman and Elizabeth Ortman; his granddaughter Charmayne Rinas; his siblings, Theresa Carter and William "Bill" Ortman; and his brothers-in-law, Elwin Carter and Eugene Kerowatski.
He is survived by: his siblings, Joe Ortman (Fran) of Weyburn, SK and Agnes Kerowatski of Weyburn, SK; and his sister-in-law Evelyn Ortman of Regina, SK. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
