He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Porterfield and Elma Porterfield; his sister Barb; his brother-in-law Don Wallace; his sister Donna Porterfield; and his nephew Lyle Wallace.

He is survived by: his wife Valerie; his daughters, Janice Pauls (Jason) and Joanne Schoneck; his grandchildren, Chase, Dallas Pauls, Hale and Nolan Schoneck; and his siblings-in-law, Brian McFarlane (Denise), Dennis McFarlane (Lana) and Geraldine McAuley (Raymond). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
