He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Herbert "Bert" Yelland and Ellen Yelland; his wife Carol Mary Yelland (Marxen); his daughter Edie Naimi (late Ghobad); his grandchildren, Mona and Darion Naimi; his son Neil Yelland; his granddaughters, Cara and Kendra Yelland; his son Chad Yelland (Crystal); and his grandsons, Edwin, Everett and Elliott Yelland. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews and many in his community of close friends.

Percy loved to collect First Nations artifacts, primarily arrow heads and stone hammers which he has donated locally.
