She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Nystrom and Cora Nystrom of Theodore; her husband George Shumay; her parents-in-law, John and Jean Shumay; her brother Edgar Nystrom (Lillian); and her siblings-in-law, Donald, Stephen Shumay and Mildred Spelay (Steve).

She is survived by: her sons, John (Sherry), Wayne (Sheila) and Darrin (Jill); her close friend George Goldsmith; her grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler (Breanna), Kristin Parker (Kyle), Megan Spigott (Eddy) and Corby; her child Jackie Elsasser (Al); her grandchildren, Michael Elsasser (Erin), Kaden and Cole; her sisters, Eleanor Fedorowich (Lionel) and Bev Nystrom (Bernie); her parents-in-law, Bill Shumay (Zoria), Agnes Titus (Boris) and Jeanette Williams (Marvin); and her pet Ben.

Memorials in memory of Shirley may be made to the Health Foundation for ICU as gifts of remembrance.
