She was predeceased by: her parents, Johan Christian and Olga Steinhauer; her brothers, Richard and Edward Steinhauer; and her husband Gordon Unger.

She is survived by: her great grandchildren, Ashley and Devyn Garland; her grandchildren, Jamie Garland, Chris Garland, Wade Unger and Alyshia Van Kannel; her daughter Wendy Garland (Rod); her great grandchildren, Paisley and Easton; her granddaughter Jennifer Berg (Tim); her great grandchildren, Hunter, Peyton and Ella; her daughter Cheryl Merkel; her grandchild Chelsey Stuart (Jack); her great grandchild Walter Stuart; her grandson Anthony Merkel (Vanessa); her son Stan Unger (Shelley); her great grandchildren, Lena, Julia and Aubrey; her grandson Dustin Unger (Kelsey); her great grandchild Willa; her daughter Corinne Van Kannel (Gord); her grandson Bret Van Kannel; her sister Hilda Rousay; and her siblings-in-law, Arthur Unger, Bob Anderson, Doreen and Alice Steinhauer. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
