It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elsie Smailes (Swift Current, Saskatchewan), who passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Sid Smailes; her parents, Julia East and Rupert East; her siblings, Violet Coupe, Velma Hansen, Bob East, Leonard East and Edwin East; and her siblings-in-law, Frank Coupe, Claude Hansen, Arnold Engel, Joan East and Lydia East.

She is survived by: her sister Matilda Engel; her children, Charlene Hendry (Brette) and Syd; her grandchildren, Derrick and Heather; her great grandchildren, Chris, Tyler, Karla, Daniel and Sophie; and her sister-in-law Barbara East. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
