Shirley Ann MacPherson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley MacPherson (née Gudnason), on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the age of 91.
Shirley will be greatly missed by her children, Carolyn (Bryce), Sandra, Kent; grandchildren, Shaun, Jana, Matthew, Spencer; great-grandchildren, Annalise, Luciano; sister, Marilyn; numerous nieces, nephews, and special grandnephew, Michael.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Lorne; parents, Barney and Mabel; sisters, Irene, Evelyne, and Euphemia; brother, Henry; and son-in-law, Rick.
Born August 16, 1933, on the family farm south of Kandahar, SK, Shirley was the second youngest of six children. She grew up on the farm and stayed in the Wynyard area for a few years working for her room and board. She worked at Goodman's Garage in Wynyard before moving to Saskatoon in 1952 to take a business course at Tech. After graduating, she worked at the Massey dealership on 1st Avenue and then at Purity Dairy on Broadway Ave. It was at one of the popular dances at the Barry Hotel where she met her future husband, Lorne. They married in July 1957. He passed away in March 2018.
Shirley was a beautiful, kind, and loving person, always dedicated to keeping in touch with family and friends, especially by phone. She never missed anyone's birthday or special occasion. She was an avid radio listener and had a remarkable knack for winning contests. She enjoyed music, especially jazz and Michael Bublé. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Shirley had an enduring list of lifelong friends and she was dearly loved by all who knew her.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nurses, aides and staff at Oliver Lodge for their compassionate care and kindness given to Shirley over the past few years. A private service will be held at a later date.
Goða Nótt Mom.
Condolences from family and friends.
