He was predeceased by: his parents, D. A. McDonald and Daisy McDonald; his wife Darlene LaFreniere; his daughter Teri; and his siblings, Myrtle, Donald and Dawson.

He is survived by: his children, Scott McDonald (Jill), Jamie McDonald (Audrey), Tracey Grand'Maison (Marc) and Tricia Noble (Ed); his grandchildren, Rob Tutka, Steven McDonald (Ava), Ryan Perry (Tiffany), Ashlen McDonald, Brayden Perry (Randi) and Kaden McDonald (Jaden); and his great grandchildren, Mia Perry, Ari, Amiyah and Adley McDonald.
