He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Gillies and Elinore Alice Gillies (Blain); his brother Val Todd Gillies; and his brother-in-law Raymond Friedrich Gottleib Steinke. He is survived by: his siblings, Jon Austin Gillies (Mary) and Lynne Elinore Gillies-Steinke; his nephew Jon Frederick Austin Gillies (Caroline); his nieces, Kimberley Lori-Lynne Rathwell (Dean) and Rachael Loretta Lynne Steinke (Mably); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Tyler Jonathan Frederick Gillies, Sebastian "Bash" Jack Llorente and Gaia Rose Janet Llorente.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 12:45 PM and from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 2nd Ave N, Saskatoon, SK S7K2G1).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory can be made to the Saskatoon SPCA, honoring his lifelong love for animals.
