Darlene Sylvia (Kizlyk) Nizinkevich Obituary

Darlene Sylvia Nizinkevich (nee Kizlyk) passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on the morning of Thursday, March 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her children by her side.

She grew up on the Kizlyk family farm west of Fosston, SK. Most of her adult life was spent as a homemaker where she enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed working with her hands, doing wheat weaving and knitting. Later in life she enjoyed travelling to warm destinations. From the late 1990’s to present, Darlene called Manitou Beach her home. She enjoyed her large vegetable and flower garden, soaking at the Manitou Mineral Spa and going on nature hikes.

Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Olga, husband Julian Nizinkevich, sisters Katie, Elizabeth and Patsy, and brothers Peter and Joe. Darlene is survived by her children Donna Nizinkevich (Allan Lebiszczak) and Dwayne (Tanya) Nizinkevich, one grandson Evan, brothers Michael Kizlyk, Mervin Kizlyk, and Steven (Sue) Kizlyk, sisters Elsie (Glen) Mason, Rose (John) Munn, Nickolena Kizlyk and Diane (Stan) Wagner.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saskatoon Cancer Center (20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4) would be appreciated.

Mervin Kizlyk wrote a sympathy message

“Our sister Darlene was a wonderful sister who always shared her happiness, optimism and wonderful smile. I have so many fond happy memories when we got together for family reunions at Fishing lake, our trip to Mexico , her visits to Florida and many other times. Darlene was a great mother and raised two wonderful children. She adored and spoke of her grandson so highly. My sympathies and condolences to her children and grandson. We will all miss her. She is now in God's hands and at peace.”
