She is survived by: her husband Gerald "Shack" Benard; her children, Kirk (Ashley), Ryan (Annette) and Lindsay (Don); her grandchildren, Kaiya, Emilie, Ivy, Hannah and Carter (Chloe); her mother Helen MacLeod (Sopotyk); her sisters, Delores Turta and Sherry Rawlyk (Ron); and her siblings-in-law, Germaine, Irene (Ray), Muriel (Byron), Doris, Denis and Lynn (Murray). She is also survived by her children and grandchildren, and their love for their mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darlene's memory to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
