He was predeceased by: his father Jonas Ballantyne; his aunts, Elizabeth Merasty, Margaret Ross, Adele McCallum, Lena Favel and Elsie Merasty; his grandparents, Thomas Ballantyne (Isabelle) and David Merasty (Charlotte); his brother Franklin Ballantyne; and his uncles, Issac Merasty, Harry Ballantyne, Jean Marie Ballantyne, Emil Merasty and Angus Merasty (Angelique).

He is survived by: his children, Franklin (Nikkita), Janet, Charlotte (Marius), Phillip, Margaret, Kenna and Gregory; his grandchildren, William, Alexus, Kayden, Evan, Alyssa, Michael, Marius, Arianna, Brianna, Thurston, Stewie, Orion, Adrianna, Julius and Sage; his great grandchildren, Madison and Marylynn; his mother Margaret Ballantyne (Seegoose); his siblings, Jack, Jackie, Kathy (Kelvin), Leslie, Teddy, Eric and Edmund; his uncles, Bernard, Stanley and Morris Ballantyne; and the mother of his children Flora Jean Bear.
