He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret B. Friesen; his parents, Henry Friesen and Sarah Friesen; and his siblings, Bob, Betty and Viola.

He is survived by: his children, Russell (Michelle) and Bernice (Colin Boyd). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
