He was predeceased by: his parents, Max and Donnie; his siblings, Lena and Tony Kanak; his brothers-in-law, Bill Glowa, Ted Puchala and Carl Luchak; and also, Nick and Mary.

He is survived by: his wife Pauline; his children, Adeline (Bill Wilson), Marlene Brink, Allan Kanak, Mark (Anita Kanak), Andrea (Latif Baluchi) and Dennis (Moira Kanak); his great grandchildren, Richard Wilson, Jeff and Jen Wilson; his children, Kylee (Jeremy Hosken), David Wilson, Sarah Brink, Roxanne (Cam Symon), Layne Kanak, Mitch Kanak (Katie Monson), Carter Monson, Rylee, Autumn, Brinley Kanak, Kenzie Kanak, Madalyn Kanak, Hailey Kanak and Brandon Kremp; his siblings, Steve Kanak, Polly Luchak, Phillip Kanak (Pat), Alex Kanak (Olga), Mike Kanak and Olga Puchala; his sisters-in-law, Marlene Kanak, Laura Kanak, Jennie Glowa, Serena Kanak, Helen Kanak, Mary Kanak and Lynn Kanak; and also, Julian Luchak (Betty), Angie McCreery (Jim) and Amelia Lecomte (Marcel). He is also survived by six children, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
