He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Sawatzky and Olga Sawatzky; his siblings, Peter, Hal and Karen; his parents-in-law, Anton and Rosie Kondraski; and his brothers-in-law, Joe Kondraski and Larry Winter.

He is survived by: his wife Marion; his son John "Johnny"; his sisters, Ginger Youdan (Ed) and Anne Winter; and his sister-in-law Anna Kondraski. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
