He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hanson and Myrtle Hanson; his son Robert John Hanson; his siblings, Ruby Dearston, Patsy Kelly, Robert and Richard Hanson; and his daughter-in-law Brenda Hanson.

He is survived by: his children, Kenny Hanson (Tanis), Scott Hanson (Lindsay), Janea Hanson and Jeremy Hanson; his great grandchildren, Sassy and Charlie; his significant other Louise; his daughters, Louise, Sassy and Charlie; and his caregiver Brittney. He is also survived by his loving wife of fifty years, partners.
