He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gillich and Anna Gillich (Gebkenjans); his stepfather Olaf Holm (Ollie); his parents-in-law, Henry and Hilda Shire; his brother Wilfred Gillich; his parents-in-law, Anna Marie Gillich, John McKinnon, Steve Rawlyk and Marjory Shire; and his nieces, Shannon Gillich and Laurel Shire Cook.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Merle Shire; his siblings, Joseph (Juanita), Catherine, Theresa, Henry, Anthony (Arden), Bernard (Connie), Agnes (Laurie), Elizabeth (Dave), Alphonse (Marilyn), Andrew (Jean) and Leo (Mary); and his brother-in-law Eric Shire (Sherry).

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Riga Cemetery in memory of Dennis.
