He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schaitel and Peg Schaitel; his brother Mike Schaitel; his brother-in-law Dwayne Sapp; his niece Leanne Sapp; his nephew Shane Duthie; his parents-in-law, George Richmond and Evelyn Richmond; his niece Kari Cave; and his grandson Scott Schaitel.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Richmond; his children, Tracey Johnson (Vaughn) and Brett (Bridget); his grandchildren, Madison, Kassidy Johnson (Owen), Brad (Royanne), Katlynn and Michael Schaitel; his great grandchild Adeline Schaitel; his siblings, Paulette Sapp and Perry (Paulette); and his sisters-in-law, Karen (Ken) and Judy Cave (Greg). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; as well as extended family.
