He was predeceased by: his wife Nicki Tzavaras; his parents, Camiel Maes and Yvonne Maes (Grozelle); his brother Ken Maes; and his brother-in-law John Thyret.

He is survived by: his daughter Selena Maes (Tim Hawryluk); his stepdaughters, Anna Tzortzis (Kyle Jacques) and Natasha Ratajczak; his grandchildren, Aurora Maes, Diezel Cornford, Mya Jacques, Brett McCoy and Timothy Long; his siblings, Linda Dennis (Rick), Don Maes (Mary), Sue Maes-Thyret, Betty Pichette (Gerry) and Mike Maes; and his sister-in-law Donna Maes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
