He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Virginia White and Simon Sutton Flythe; his friends, Dr. John Ran Smith, Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts; his wife Helen Heidgerken; his children, Carolyn Flythe Thaxton (Don), Walter "Walt" White Flythe Jr. and Frances "Heidi" Flythe; his brother Jesse Thomas "Tom" Flythe; his grandchildren, Donald "Jeb" Thaxton and Acree Graham Macam (Eric); his great grandchild Lassiter Flythe Macam; and his sister Margaret "Peggy" Flythe Teague. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
