He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret Friesen; his wife Helen Joan Friesen; his father Jacob Friesen; his siblings, Les Friesen, Allan Friesen and MaryAnn Voth; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Belter, Agnes Friesen, Gail Friesen, Clifford Belter, Peter Wiebe and Hank Wiebe.

He is survived by: his children, Sherry Gerbrandt (Elmer), Dwayne Friesen, Richard Friesen (Joanne) and MaryAnn Stephenson (Richard); his grandchildren, Angie Jackson, Jamie Gerbrandt, Melissa Stephenson, Jordan Stephenson, Kevin Friesen, Kristyn Friesen and Lauren Friesen; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, April, Seth, Mackenna and Tyson; and his siblings, Tina Wall (John), Menno Friesen (Naomi), Ernie Friesen, Linda Krahn, John Friesen (Bonnie) and Leroy Friesen (Brenda).
