He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Sam and Margret Geddes; his parents, Irene Geddes and Wilfred Thorn; his siblings, George Geddes, Brenda Thorn, Ronald Thorn Sr., Debra Thorn-Cyr, Robert Thorn and Donna Thorn; and his children, Richard Jr. Thorn, Kelsey Thorn and Richelle Thorn.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Thorn; his siblings, Brian Thorn Sr. (Elaine Brass), William Thorn, Matthew Thorn and Yolanna Thorn; his daughter Melissa Gamble; his stepchildren, Pamela, Kelly Brass, Kyle, Kayla and Kalene McDonald; and his grandson Brendan McDonald. He is also survived by numerous other grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends.
